I don't have a quote, but I would advise to watch for signs that the price decline is coming to a slow, lenders are easier at approval of new loans, and the speed at which newly listed homes are sold.

ha, the million (perhaps multimillion!) dollar question!

Ideally you want to invest just before the market begins to rise, but picking the true start of the next property upturn is not a simple task!  It can be difficult to tell a restablising period from a true upturn

Unfortunately, a lot of people actually fear real estate investing, especially with the worsening credit situation in the US and the dropping real estate prices. People are afraid of purchasing their own homes or are unable to because of their bad credit rating. Some people also fear that with prices going up, construction materials are also going to cost more than the profit that they can get from investing in fixer-upper properties. The lag in real estate prices is aggravated with the media describing a "housing crash".

You should start "investing" on your education now.  After that you'll know when you should be investing on actual real estate.  Opportunity favors the prepared.

20 to 25 years old are the beast time to invest on working. This is the key time to established our career. Anybody spend this time unusably, he can't be anything in his future.

Imagine for a moment that you have just received a year-end bonus or income tax refund. You are not sure whether to invest now or wait.
After all, the market recently hit an all-time high. Now imagine that you face this kind of decision every year—sometimes in up markets, other times in downdrafts.

The best time to invest in real estate is when the finance rate is at it's lowest, and mortgage values are down; a situation like that creates the perfect storm, and we are currently in that kind of storm.
