How do you know whether the price of a home per square foot is reasonable or if you are about to make a bad decision?

The builder association does publish average cost per sq. ft for new houses. This has a lot to do with quality and options, so it is hard to say. I would recommend you visit several new construction development in your area to compare the quality and the price pre-sqare feet.
