If I wanted to buy a house, what would be the ideal number of houses to view prior to buying one.

Well this is a complicated yet great question to ask.

The short and simple version of the answer is there isnt a realistic number. Thats the short version, of it.

Since buying a home will be most likely the largest purchase you'll make besides a car. You have to remember these facts when looking at a home:

1. Must haves! What does your home need to have when you live in it.
2. Nice To Haves! Just like the must haves but these are things you can do without and don't really need to have in your house.
3. Can't haves! What you can absolutely with no doubt live with. This includes heavy traffic, trains, airports.

Remember your making a big comitment when you buy a home make sure its the right one for you. If you mention a list of must haves and can not haves your agent will be able to narrow down the number of houses you have to look at. I have heard agents give out a number they think is right but its all bs they just dont want to show you all around town they just want to close a deal and be done with it.
