There are two types of contracts when it comes to property insurance: homeowner’s and commercial. Homeowner’s Insurance, in tangible form, is basically a contract and is comprised of three or four parts. The divisions of this contract include: insuring agreements; identification of covered property; conditions and stipulations; and exclusions.

Understanding insurance basics as it relates to homeowner’s insurance is necessary in attaining the best possible coverage and avoiding financial woes down the road. Additionally, using the services of a professional insurance professional/advisor is always the only way to determine appropriate types of policies and coverage relative to the homeowner’s circumstances.

Here are some key questions to consider when choosing a home owner insurance policy:

    * How much will homeowners insurance cost me on a monthly basis?
    * Are there home owner deductibles I must pay before the homeowners insurance begins to help cover my costs?
    * What does the homeowners insurance policy cover, and what doesn't it?

It is important for you to have homeowners insurance. If anything happens to your house, it is important for someone to pay for it. When you don’t have this insurance, it means that you should pay that money.

Each home insurance policy is different, but standard policies usually provide:

    * Broad coverage for damage to your house and any permanent structures on your property (unless the cause of the damage is specifically excluded in your policy.)
    * Damage to your personal property due to causes specified in your policy.
    * Limited coverage which is available for items like stolen jewelry. Coverage amounts vary depending on your state of residence.
