The Birds!

Okay..... This is the time of year when lots of birds are hanging about, joining together, getting ready to migrate. My property and trees and the roof are just loaded with them. They totally make my cat and dog go silly at the windows!
Today alone.... 2 birds crashed into the windows on different sides of the house. One knocked itself silly and the other is dead.
Yesterday we had one fly into the window at the cat! You should have seen my cat jump!
The day before, one hit the back window and was dead on the ground when we went to look.
The screens on the windows have little holes in them from all this activity.
Does anyone have the same problem and if so, how do you prevent them from hitting the windows?
This year seems quite busy compared to the last few years.
